Winter 2018 Restaurant & Bar Bucket List

5 min read by  •  Time Visited: Winter 2018

I'm excited to introduce this new series to the blog that you'll see more often than the yearly Travel Bucket List. For a food and drink bucket list to be more realistic and attainable, I am breaking it down by season. This winter, there are many places in Downtown West Palm Beach and Palm Beach that have revealed exciting news & grand openings. Whether it's returning to restaurants I only went to lunch or a drink for, or new places entirely, here is my bucket list of restaurants & bars I hope to try before March 20th!

West Palm Beach, FL

  • Civil Society Brewing Company in Jupiter
I tried to go here once while I was gluten-free for a few months and they did not have any ciders available. Would love to go back and support the owners, who are alumni of my high school!
  • The Parched Pig in Palm Beach Gardens
    Recently opened!
  • Coolinary Cafe in Palm Beach Gardens
Same owner and next door to The Parched Pig
  • PGA National's iBar
I've heard good things and they have live music on some nights. If it's related at all, the PGA National Spa is great.
  • Paddy Mac's Irish Pub & Restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens  — Visited
This one is a bit random, but I loved Irish Pubs in New York City and never thought South Florida would have an authentic one until I discovered this place online. It's tucked away in a familiar plaza at a major intersection locally, and all of the servers were Irish (accents and all)! The Bangers & Mash, Corned Beef and Cabbage Soup and Magners Cider hit the spot.
  • Brass Ring Pub in North Palm Beach – Visited
There was a surprisingly long wait for a mid-afternoon on a Saturday, but we were able to snag two seats at the bar. The burgers were juicy and flavorful – I enjoyed the mushroom burger specifically. It was a smoky (from the burgers, not cigarettes), dive bar atmosphere with a lot of singles eating at the bar alongside us. I felt a little rushed by the crowd and the hustling service, so we were probably there for 45 minutes total. If I crave a quick burger nearby I might return, otherwise I'm not rushing back.
  • Leila in West Palm Beach Visited
I have passed by this Middle Eastern restaurant in Downtown West Palm Beach so many times and was always intrigued. I love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines! They have a Mezza Tour option on their dinner menu, which includes 6 of their Mezza of your choice for $49. It's a perfect amount of food for two people to share as their full meal. My uncle and I shared the yulanji, im-saáa, burak, muhammara, náanak (my personal favorite) and the koosa b'dibs ruman (second favorite).
  • Pistache in West Palm Beach
I've been years ago and have good memories of the food, service and atmosphere. More recently, I've heard amazing things about the mussels that I would love to try!
  • The Blind Monk in West Palm BeachVisited
Down the road from West Palm Brewery. Listened to live folk music while sipping on a cider at the bar. It's a small, cozy spot for a date or a fresh bite.
  • West Palm Brewery & Wine Vault in West Palm BeachVisited
Review coming to the blog soon! Sneak peek in the image above.
  • Restoration Hardware Rooftop in West Palm BeachVisited (twice!)
Review coming to the blog soon!
  • Sant Ambroeus in Palm Beach
I've been to this restaurant in NYC a couple times, but they recently opened a location in Palm Beach and it is the absolute hot spot. I walked past it in the newly designed Royal Poinciana Plaza and it was packed!
  • Costa in Palm Beach – Visited
Went as a part of my happy hour hop – reviewed here
  • Cafe Boulud in Palm BeachVisited
Went as a part of my happy hour hop – reviewed here
  • Chez L'epicier in Palm BeachVisited
Went as a part of my happy hour hop – reviewed here
  • Flagler Steakhouse in Palm Beach Visited
I loved the Grilled Artichokes, Blue Crab Dumplings and Petit Filet Mignon. You can order the cooking temperature of your steak in "plus" increments, which I never knew existed! I ordered Medium Rare Plus (between Medium Rare and Rare) and it was perfect. They also had a vegetarian menu; my best friend loved their veggie chili. Excellent service in a beautiful dining room. The outdoor balcony seating overlooks The Breakers golf course.

Orlando, FL

Austin, TX

I've never visited Austin before, but as I mentioned here, I booked a trip for this winter! I'll be sure to do a city guide afterwards, but these are some items being incorporated into the plan.

  • Breakfast burritos
  • Texas BBQ
  • Cute patio dining – there seems to be so many good options for this!
  • Live entertainment & drinks
  • Happy hour deals
  • Speakeasy bars
